WRITING PRACTICE

In the film, George is encouraged by Mr. Barrie to fly a kite even when his brothers didn't trust in him.
After a second opportunity, George succeeded and he was really happy.
Can you remember a particular moment in your childhood when someone believed in you
and encouraged you?
Write about that personal experience. Add details, feelings, describe what was so special
about that moment.

WRITING PRACTICE
Describing Neverland
J.M Barrie had his particular secret place. Did  you have a special secret place when you were a child?
Was it real or was it part of your imagination?
Describe you own "NEVERLAND" in detail.Give details of this place.
Say what it was like being in this place.
Did you tell anyone about it?

WRITING PRACTICE
Invent a children story like the one Mr. Barrie invented for the Davies children.
You can choose between one of these options:
A PIRATE STORY - A MEDIEVAL LEGEND- AN ADVENTURE UNDER THE SEA
A LOVE STORY IN AN ANCIENT PLACE- A COWBOY STORY- A GANGSTER ADVENTURE.
Make it imaginative, really creative and with lots of action!!

POWERPOINT ACTIVITY - PRONUNCIATION ACTIVITY
Why don't you narrate the children story you have written?
Turn your story into a Powerpoint presentation dividing it into slides.
Add pictures or photographs to make it nicer.
Then, using the  PowerPoint menu INSERTAR-PELICULAS Y SONIDOS-GRABAR SONIDOS
record every slide one by one and then you can read the story and listen to it at the same time.
Your teacher can help you with the pronunciation.

CLASS DISCUSSION
‘The majority read novels not to think, but to keep themselves from thinking.’
JM Barrie helps the boys deal with the death of their father by escaping from reality into a fantasy land.
Discuss this quote in class and write down your own opinion
How is this "escaping" portrayed visually in the film?

E-MAIL PROJECT
PETER PAN'S PATIENTS

"Peter Pan – the boy who would not grow up – has been helping other children to grow up for over 70 years."

"Thanks to the generosity of Peter Pan's author, JM BARRIE,  who gave the copyright of his children’s classic to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in April 1929, the magical story has brought fairytale endings for many sick children treated here."

VISIT THE WEBSITE OF THE GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN AND READ THE STORY OF THE PETER PAN'S PATIENTS.
CHOOSE ONE OF THE PATIENTS AND WRITE AN EMAIL TO THEM, ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT THEM
ABOUT THEIR HOBBIES, THEIR LIVES, THEIR STORY.
TELL THEM ABOUT YOU AND ENCOURAGE THEM IN THEIR ILLNESSES.

WRITING AN OPINION ESSAY
Although Peter Pan is a tale of a boy who would not grow up, Finding Neverland can be seen
as a bildungsroman ( A bildungsroman is a tale of someone who grows up
and is more mature at the end of the story).
Which of the characters develops the most over the course of the film? Write an opinion essay of about
100 words.
