ACTIVITY SIX. AUTHENTIC READING: “LIVE AID CONCERT”

A great moment of Bohemian Rhapsody takes place during Queen’s performance at Live Aid Concert in 1985. Hunger in Africa was a social issue in the 80s, and people were worried about it. They felt they had to make something to try to put an end to that hunger.
On Saturday, 13 July 1985, rock and pop music’s top table came together to raise money and awareness for the famine crisis, then taking place in Ethiopia. They organized a huge charity concert.
In this article, Radio X, a commercial radio from The United Kingdom, looks back at that hugely influential gig and some of its messier moments.
