Miles Ahead, Miles Davis life

Don Cheadle has taken the title for this film from Miles Davis second album and has made his directorial debut in this accurate biopic about this musician, where he is also its protagonist, writer, and producer. The project has been developed over five years in which Cheadle has heard Miles records, again and again, has read everything about the musician and has interviewed those who knew him. With all this documentation he could confess that "the more information I found, the more enigmatic he seemed".
The film focuses on the period between 1975 and 1980 when, after having experienced glory, this musical genius was taken prisoner by alcohol, drugs, heartbreak and loneliness. Through precious time jumps, the film leads us from a restless present to a happy past.
The thread of the plot is the theft and subsequent recovery of some tapes Davis had recorded for his next work. Along with a Rolling Stone reporter (Ewan McGregor), they both are involved in a series of persecutions, car races, and shootings to recover the recordings that Davis planned to use to return to the musical world.
Reluctant to be labeled as a follower of a particular style, his whole life was a struggle to redesign himself and his music. He participated in different movements as bebop, cool and avant-garde jazz, and he also opened the jazz rock. Miles Davis had a real obsession for not being repeated and always tried to transform his music.
