SON OF CAIN, AN EXAMPLE OF GOOD HOME-MADE CINEMA
Media:
David Solans makes his debut in cinema with the film Son of Cain, a Spanish production that premieres now. Despite his youth, he makes credible a difficult character that has to convey a lot of feelings only with very few words. In this interview, David explains us his experience.
INTERVIEW TO DAVID SOLANS, THE PROTAGONIST OF THE FILM SON OF CAIN (IN SPANISH)
If we think of some of the films that have recently been screened in Spain, we can say that Spanish cinema and, in particular, Catalan cinema are at the highest level.
Son of Cain is a good example. It is one of those films that will not let you indifferent. Although the cases will be completely different, I am sure that those parents who have had a difficult child will feel somewhat identified with the guilt feelings, contradictions and confusion that the parents of the film suffer. And those who have not lived this situation will attend a psychological thriller where an apparently exemplary family have to accept how wickedness and perversion infiltrate into their lives.
Through the dreadful events which are explained, we can see how the complex characters of the film have to face up to an unexpected chain of incidents that make them doubt themselves.
And finally, when it seems that there is a logical explanation for such a malicious behaviour, there will be another unexpected, clever and shocking twist in the story that will put paid to a rational conclusion.
The vileness, the absolute whim and a Machiavellian personality who manipulates the loved ones will be the real winners. At the end, this ill soul obsessed with the chess set will show his vast skill in the handling of the chessboard.
