Essential for students of Culinary Arts, Gastronomy and Catering.
French comedy directed by Daniel Cohen and starring Jean Reno and Michael Youn. It tells the story of Alexandre Vauclair, a three Michelin stars renowned chef who has to defend his traditional cuisine against modern molecular gastronomy.
The new management of the restaurant wants to replace him in the kitchen and contract a younger cook who is a snob and a fan of the laboratory cuisine.
Alexandre meets Jacky who makes his living as a painter but is actually a very gifted cook full of creativity and talent. They both will finally get recognition from the inspectors and will be able to keep the coveted Michelin stars.
This confrontation between the two types of cuisine is highly peppered with scenes of good humor and seasoned with a subplot full of love conflicts.
The ways of preparing the different recipes along with the spectacular display of dishes achieve to create an atmosphere where the viewer really thinks to smell their aromas and taste their flavors.
It is a comedy whose plot, although predictable at the end, always accomplishes its goal: maintaining interest, good humor and gastronomic complicity with the viewer who leaves the cinema with a very good flavor.
